Wii Fit!

I got a Wii Fit today. “How did you do that?” you might ask (because everywhere is ‘sold out’ of Wii Fits.) Let me tell you about my casual trips to retail places to inquire as to their stock of said Fits.

I walked in to several stores and asked if they had Fits. They all said no. One person even laughed at me.

In my sadness, I wrote an e-mail to my friend, Brad (I would love to link to his blog, but he doesn’t have one!)

I wrote to him: “If I was in the market for a Wii Fit, how might I go about procuring one for myself?”

He asked me a few questions and then called me about 12 hours later with one! He’s magical, folks! I’m not telling you this so that you’ll use him to get you Wii Fits, I think this would stress him out, I’m telling you this so you can look at him in wonderment as his procuring abilities.

This picture represents a sad day for me. I was on my way to Giant to get ham. (We were supposed to have ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, but during my first grocery run of the day I forgot to pick up one of the main ingredients.) (I was 6 months pregnant.) While driving on the road behind the grocery store, I heard the thud of my transmission dying and started going back down the hill. There was nothing left to do but pull over and put on the flashers. I never did end up getting ham. Will brought me McDonalds while I sat on the trunk waiting for roadside assistance. It was sad to see the tow truck driver load her up on his truck. We donated her to charity, where she sold for less than $500. How sad. I really liked that car.

Senate Voting Update II

Thanks to the help of this handy Washington Post Page, here is an update on our Senate’s voting.

Missed votes by party:
Independent: 2.2%
Republican: 4.5%
Democratic: 5.8%

This, of course leads me to my third post about the number of votes McCain has missed in the 110th Congress.
First post: ( 2.15.08 ) McCain had missed 55.7% of his votes
Second post: ( 5.8.08 ) McCain had missed 58.5% of his votes
Now: McCain has missed 61.5% of his votes.

I think that this is significant, and I wonder why the media hasn’t picked up on this story (especially since I found the information on The Washington Post’s webpage). Am I overreacting, or is is correct to believe that a senator who is elected by the people and paid a salary of $165,200 should do more than 38.5% of his job.

Ok, I lied, that last picture wasn’t the oldest I could find. The oldest one I could find is this one:

This is me after competing in the Greek Olympics in 1998. I came in second in my sorority’s event, The Jello Slide. This, of course, included lots of Jello and a slip-n-slide, which I as a new member had to clean in the shower of my dorm room after The Olympics.

Anyway…this post isn’t about me, it’s about Jen, who is in the background with crossed arms. Jen and I pledged together, roomed together, went to formals together, stood next to each other while the other got married, were pregnant together, and this summer will go on vacation together with our families. Jen is an amazing friend, a strong Christian woman, and a great mother. She’s one of my heroes and one of my best my friends. Here’s another picture:

That’s Jen and Enya, Monica. I put Monica in there because she commented on my post yesterday and I like to reward my loyal readers. 🙂 This picture was taken in 2001 in my room on Monica’s Birthday during something secret and sorority like that I can’t tell you about.

Anyway, the moral of this post is: Jen is wonderful and I like comments. Stay tuned to see what pictures I next dig out of the vault. You may be next!

Boston

In hindsight, I loved Boston. While I was there, though, I couldn’t wait to get away. I wanted to be in Ohio (from where I couldn’t wait to get away before I moved to Boston) or DC (which I now can’t wait to get away from to move to Ohio). I blame my restlessness on my military upbringing. Moving every 1-3 years makes you always itchy to go somewhere new. I’ve been in DC for a little over 5 years, which is 1/2 a year shy of my record for living in Sciotoville, OH (which I consider my hometown) for 5 1/2 years. Sigh…

Picture Blogging

In the spirit of Bethsperanza and Pioneer Woman (and a distracted thanks to Cassia for getting me absolutely addicted to that blog), I’m going to start to picture blog more. I’m going to play around with it to see how I want to do it. I may post every day on my Blogger site and then just link to it weekly from this site to keep from filling the live blogrolls with my pictures.

The next post here will be the oldest picture I can find on my computer that I haven’t already posted. Stay tuned, though because you will most likely see a picture of yourself posted on my blog. It’s only a matter of time!
