Two Quick Things

I got tickets to See McCain tomorrow at Portsmouth High School. I’m not sure if I’m going to make it though because I have James and no car… I my borrow a car and a babysitter, though. I find it amusing that I live right outside of DC, but I have to go to my podunk hometown to see a presidential candidate. I figure if I miss seeing him tomorrow, I can always see him at the Inauguration (assuming he shows up for it).

Also, James learned how to clap today.

Senate Voting Update II

Thanks to the help of this handy Washington Post Page, here is an update on our Senate’s voting.

Missed votes by party:
Independent: 2.2%
Republican: 4.5%
Democratic: 5.8%

This, of course leads me to my third post about the number of votes McCain has missed in the 110th Congress.
First post: ( 2.15.08 ) McCain had missed 55.7% of his votes
Second post: ( 5.8.08 ) McCain had missed 58.5% of his votes
Now: McCain has missed 61.5% of his votes.

I think that this is significant, and I wonder why the media hasn’t picked up on this story (especially since I found the information on The Washington Post’s webpage). Am I overreacting, or is is correct to believe that a senator who is elected by the people and paid a salary of $165,200 should do more than 38.5% of his job.

Bassoon Hero

Rainn Wilson is a bassoonist. He was on Leno tonight talking about how awesome the bassoon is by referencing the popular video game, Bassoon Hero. Nice…

He also read a letter from “Dwight” accepting the Vice President nomination that McCain recently mentioned on The Daily Show.

McCain/Schrute…  who’s in?

Not a Quitter

It looks like both parties have candidates who, despite the odds, never give up.

Ron Paul 2008

Sunday Morning Opinion

Ralph Nader is running for president and none of the 4 adults here watching him announce on Meet the Press were impressed (the three kids weren’t impressed either). He rambles and seems to be a little too fond of himself.

I’m done listening to Clinton call Obama out about his tactics that she insinuates are dirty when she’s grasping at invisible straws to make him look bad.

McCain’s Lack of a Voting Record

According to the Washington Post, McCain has missed more votes in the 110th Congress than he has voted for. Out of 496 votes cast, he has missed 261 or 55.7%.

I’m glad I’m not one of his constituents.

Right-Leaning Freedom Lover

Ever since I took my first political party quiz in grad school, I have been amused about the bias these quizzes give. I found a new one. It’s linked from the Libertarian Party of Virginia’s website, so I’m not thinking this one is any fairer. Let me know what it tells you you are. I’m wondering if anyone will come out NOT Libertarian. It put me in the Libertarian party as, you guessed it, a Right-Leaning Freedom Lover.

McCain Campaign Soft on Geography

According to a picture on McCain’s website, voters from Virginia’s Eastern Shore don’t get to vote next Tuesday in, “The Chesapeake Primary.”

MN loves Paul, too!

Yay for Minnesota where, according to Google, Paul is winning with 38% of the vote .

I’m Voting for Ron Paul…and you Should Too!

I Heart Ron Paul
